CCD CALENDAR—2005 / 2006 and Parish Events that require the attendance of all Students !
*Children are required to attend mass on Holy Days of Obligation. *All Children that are school age, are required to attend all 8 years of Religious Education Instruction. Children that do not attend each year may not be eligible or spiritually ready to receive the sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Eucharist or Confirmation. *Whether a child receives a sacrament or not is determined by the Religious Education Director, Teachers, and Pastor. *All CCD Children are required to participate in our Annual Christmas Pageant and Living Stations.
October 2005 2nd CCD Classes resume for 2005/2006 year at 10:00 am in the Parish Center. 20th 7:00 pm in Parish Center. Parent Meeting MANDATORY! October is the Month of the Rosary. At 11:30 am every Sunday all children will be brought to church to recite the rosary. If your child does not have Rosary Beads they will be provided. November 2005 1st All Saints Day Holy day of obligation– Children are required to attend 7:00 pm Mass. 2nd All Souls Day- A day in which we pray for our loved ones who have passed on. Mass 7:00 pm 18th Beginning of 40 Hours devotion. Mass at 7:00 pm with Exposition of the Most Blessed Sacrament 12:00 Midnight. We ask that you and your child attend church to spend some quiet time with our Lord.
19th 40 hours continues with exposition of the Most Blessed Sacrament after 8:30 am mass and continuing through the 5:30 pm Mass. Take a few moments of your time to spend with Jesus and thank Him for all the wonderful things He has given you. 20th Feast of Christ the King. There will be a Solemn High Mass at 12:00 noon which the children will attend. They will also be required to sit with our Lord during exposition from 1:00—1:30 pm. We encourage parents and siblings to join their children in this time of silent prayer. December 2005 2nd Christmas Pageant Practice 7:30 pm in Church—Costumes and Roles to be handed out. 4th There will be NO CCD classes on this day! 8th Feast of the Immaculate Conception—Holy day of obligation– Children are required to attend 7:00 pm Mass. 9th Christmas Pageant Practice 7:30pm in Church 14th Christmas Pageant Practice 7:30 pm in Church. 16th Annual Christmas Pageant. All Children should report to Parish Center by 6:45pm. Costumes will be put on at Parish Center. 18th Final CCD Class before Christmas Break. Classes will resume on January 8, 2006. 24th Christmas Eve—We ask that the children attend the 7:00 pm Mass on Christmas Eve. This will fulfill their Christmas obligation and allow you and your family to enjoy Christmas Morning without having to stop your festivities to attend Church. Remind your child that this is the Birthday of our Lord and attending Mass is attending His special Birthday Party. 25th Christmas Day—Please have your child attend mass even if you are away with family. The meaning of Christmas has been lost in commercialism, please do let your family loose the meaning by not stopping in God’s house to say Thank you and Happy Birthday to His Most Precious Son, Our Lord. Make Christmas Mass a part of your tradition. January 2006 1st Feast of the Solemnity of Mary Children should be attending Sunday mass even while CCD classes are in recess. 8th CCD Classes resume at 10:00 am in the Parish Center. March 2006 1st Ash Wednesday—All Children are required to attend 7:00 pm Mass. This is the beginning of the Lenten Season. 5th 11:15 am Children will walk the Stations of the Cross every Sunday during Lent in Church. We encourage your attendance to show your children your love of Jesus. 23rd 6:30pm Rehearsal for Annual Living Stations in church. Costume and role handouts 30th 6:30 pm Rehearsal for Living Station in church. April 2006 3rd 7:00 pm in Parish Center. Meeting with Parents of First Holy Communion Candidates. MANDATORY! 5th Final rehearsal for Living Stations 7th Living Stations at 7:00 pm in Church. Children should be in Parish Center by 6:15pm to get dressed. 9th Palm Sunday—There WILL BE CCD classes and all children will attend the 12:00 noon mass. We encourage parents, siblings and family to join their children in this celebration of the mass. 13th Holy Thursday—the Mass of the Lord’s Supper. It is on Holy Thursday that the gift of the Holy Eucharist was given to us by our Lord. ALL Children MUST attend this mass. We ask that you come as a family and receive God’s Love through the Body and Blood of His most precious Son. 14th Good Friday—Passion of our Lord’s Death. Children Must attend this mass. Please do not keep your child from this mass fearing that they will be frightened. You should be explaining to them that God Loved us so much, that He gave His only Son for our sins, so that we may one day be with Him in Heaven. This is a beautiful show of Love and your children need to be a part of God’s love, even through His Son’s Death. 16th Easter Sunday—Celebration of Our Lord’s Resurrection. All Children must attend one mass on this day. 8:30 am (English), 10:00 am (Italian), 12:00 noon (English) There will be no CCD Classes. 23rd CCD classes resume at 10:00 am in the Parish Center. 29th 4:30pm First Reconciliation for First Holy Eucharist Candidates. If your child does not perform the Sacrament of Penance, he/she will not be allowed to receive First Holy Communion. May 2006 1st 7:00 pm May Crowning in Church. ALL CHILDREN MUST ATTEND. Communion Children are to attend in Communion dress. One girl will be chosen to Crown the Blessed Mother and One boy will be chosen to carry crown. 7th Final CCD class for the year. *Confirmation date will be announced as soon as it is received from Archdiocese. *To Be Announced - a MANDATORY meeting with Confirmation Candidates, Sponsors and Parents. *If you have any questions or concerns please contact Regina Oliveira at 973-589-2090 or 973-589-8335.
